December 6th, 2007Text Thursday: US Airways going wirelessBy: Chris Brubaker
The busiest travel day of the year has passed but that doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods yet. The holidays are a busy time for everyone and traveling can be a big headache for all involved. US Airways, the 5th largest carrier in the US is looking to alleviate some of the stress this holiday season by providing as much up-to-date information to travelers as possible.
US Airways is touting their new SMS service as the first in the airline industry. By texting your flight number to TEXTUS (839887) the company will respond back with up-to-date flight information such as departure and arrival times along with gate information. The company also offers passengers the ability to sign up for their rewards program by text messaging their name, email address, and zip code. The only caveat is that you can only check flight information on the day of travel.
Flying may be the fastest way to travel, but the hassle of the airport (especially during busy times) can cause a heck of a lot of stress. Any airline that offers its customers access to information in a convenient way gets an A+ in my book. I would be surprised if other airlines didn’t implement similar text messaging programs in the future. With so many consumers carrying mobile phones, it’s no wonder the airline industry is starting to take advantage of the technology. Denver Real Estate |
